Grace Irene Timbimboo Chatfield 1925 ~ 2006
Grace Irene Chatfield beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Sister, passed away Wednesday morning Sept. 14, 2006, after a courageous year and a half battle with Ovarian Cancer.
She was born in Washakie, Utah April 27, 1925, a proud daughter of Native American parents, Moroni and Amy Timbimboo. She is a member of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation. Grace was a member of the LDS Church. Though inactive, she was a strong believer in her faith.
Grace grew up in a small Indian Community and shared a rural life with her parents, four sisters and one brother. One sister, Mae Parry (Grant) survives her. She was preceded in death by Joan Martinez (Louis), Hazel Zundel (Wallace), Frank Timbimboo (Helen) and Katherine Pacheco (Joe). Numerous nieces and nephews are acknowledged and of whom she was very proud. Grace married Mark Chatfield April 25, 1948 and together they produced four children, Diane Ruth (Harvey) Holbrook, Mark Ross Chatfield (Irene), Randall Dean Chatfield (Cheryle) and Sharon Lynn Moncur (Donald). These were followed by seven grandchildren, Sharlene CHATFIELD, Stacey Nagle (Dustin), Brandy Cunningham (Chad), Dak Harvey (Ashley), Ivy Wilson (Marce), Kade Moncur (Maria) and Ryan Moncur. There are also nine Great-Grandchildren, Shontel, Mykaylee, Joshua, Michael, Sierra, Sydney, Vaughn, Cooper and Dax with one more on the way.
She was a devoted wife and homemaker for 58 years and a loving, generous Mother. In the early years, raising a family with little money Grace became adept at providing an exceptional way of life for her family by becoming a skilled seamstress, an excellent scratch cook and homemaker extraordinaire. She made nearly all her children's clothing, and gave them wonderful home styled recipes that we still enjoy today.
10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tues. A graveside service is scheduled for 12 noon in the Rosemont section of the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3401 S. Highland Dr.
