Mr. Deets had resided in Long Point the past nine years, operating a grocery store in that community, until last New Years Day when fire destroyed the building.
He graduated from the University of IL with the class of 1915.
Mr. Deets was a member of the Christian Church at Long Point, and of the Leslie G. Woods Post of the American Legion in Streator.

Friends here learned that Mr. Deets had suffered a severe heart attack a few days ago, and was placed in a hospital at Streator for care. He seemed to be recovering nicely, and on Monday the doctors decided he was well enough to drive home alone. He started for Long Point, it was stated, and on the way had a head-on collision with the car occupied by Mr. Blackman and Mr. Patterson. Although Mr. Deets was conscious for some time before his death, he did not know just what had happened.
