Charles Levi Olcott was born at Marengo, Illinois, July 24, 1874 and died suddenly at his home northwest of Burwell, Nebraska, Friday morning, April 24, 1925, at the age of fifty-one years and ten months. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Olcott. In early life he moved with his parents from Illinois to Polk county, Nebraska, and eight years ago came to Burwell where his remaining days were spent. His call by death came unexpectedly and as a sudden surprise and shock to his loved ones and friends.
Mr. Olcott was a good husband and father, and his neighbors freely speak of his kind and generous heartedness as a friend and neighbor. His life was not lived selfishly, but always with helpful thoughts of and kindly deeds toward others.
He was united in marriage to Nellie Bean, March 31, 1898. They became the parents of seven children, four boys and three girls. Little Irene died at the age of seven years. The children who survive their father are Ray, Ellsworth,
Leslie, Carlos, Evelyn and Mrs. Margaret Anderson. Although coming from a family of several children, only one brother is left of the family, Mr. Frank Olcott, of Columbus, Nebraska. His death is mourned by his devoted wife, the six
children, his brother, and a host of friends....(verse)...
Funeral services were held at the family home Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Wells of the Methodist church and Sunday the remains were taken to the old home at Columbus, Nebraska, for interment...(verse).
