Nicholas CHATFIELD, Age 80 passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday night, July 1, 2016 in his home. For the past many months Nick had been experiencing breathing problems starting with shortness of breath advancing into have to use an oxygen machine 24/7. It was difficult for him to prepare his own meals or go anywhere without an oxygen tank with difficulty.
Nick was a mild mannered man, always positively motivated and optimistic. An Over and a Next person never looking back rehashing the past regretting what might have HAPPENED. He was a NEXT man living in the present looking forward and planning todays and tomorrows.
An intelligent self educated man that enjoyed reading, figuring out cross word puzzles, completing home projects. traveling, vacationing and working on older automobiles. He lived a full and often interesting life.
Nick was a Korean War Veteran having served two years in the U.S. Army. He had worked for many years in Southern California for the Johns Mansville Company prior to relocating to Central California where he married.
Nicholas enjoyed auto mechanics and worked in that field for forty + years. He was a very component auto mechanic having worked for a Visalia Foreign Auto Repair Shop, for a Nissan Auto Dealership for the National Park Service. He worked his last ten years of fulltime employment in the Sequoia National Park near Three Rivers in Tulare County, California.
His remains being scattered over the mountains he so enjoyed hiking in, camping in and working in. He'll be missed by his daughter, all his many friends, neighbors and acquaintances.
