Obituary
William Russell Chatfield of Johnson, 96, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 14, 2010 with his loving family present. He resided at the home of Brian and Michelle Boyden where he had been well cared for throughout the past six years. Russell was born on Oct. 21, 1914 in the town of Westminster, as one of seven siblings. He is survived only by his sister, Rogena Thomas, of Easton. Russell married his wife of over 60 years, Edith Davis, on Jan. 25, 1941, who passed away in early 2003. Russell is also survived by his children, Myrtle Boyden of Johnson, and Ethel Beverage of Sanford, N.C., as well as their spouses, Donald Boyden and Barry Beverage, respectively. His five surviving grandchildren are, Brian, Julene, and Russell Boyden, and Heidi and John Beverage. Russell is predeceased by a sixth grandchild, Mystelle Boyden, who passed away as an infant in 1982. Russell's granddaughters-in-law are Michelle Boyden and Nadja Beverage; great-grand- children include, Joel, Jessie, Jamie and Joanna Boyden, as well as, Ebony MacDonald. Russell graduated from Brandon High school in his youth but waited until his late 40's to pursue higher education, achieving an accounting degree from Champlain College in 1964. Russell mastered several vocations but chose to spend most of his life farming. He then finished his career in the work force as an employee in the lab department at Johnson State College. Being a long time member of the Nazarene Church, Russell served in many capacities including; Sunday school teacher, Church Board member, Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent as well as performing many other necessary tasks. Some of his favorite nonchurch related activities were fishing, word games, puzzles and following professional sports. Russell also greatly enjoyed maintaining his lawn and garden and attending to the needs of his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In his later years, Russell was lovingly cared for by his family and other wonderful in-home care providers. Thank you Nancy. They were well supported by Lamoille Home Health and Hospice and the Meals On Wheels program.
Russell will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family has found comfort in knowing that he is still with us in our hearts and thoughts and his influence will continue on for many generations to come.
