Adolph Frank Hoehn was born in New Orleans, LA to Henry and Emma Hoehn. He was the youngest of 4 children.
In 1938 the family moved to Phoenix, AZ where he finished high school and later enlisted in the Navy, serving on a destroyer during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he married Diana Jean Chatfield and they made their home in Payson. During their time there, he owned a Texaco service station, served as the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, was President of Rotary and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. They had four children and in 1972, he took a risk and sold his business and home and moved his family to Cortez, CO.
There he worked a small farm and participated in several large construction projects, one being the McPhee Dam Project. He eventually retired from Triad Western Constructors in 1992 and enjoyed time traveling. He visited Australia, Holland, Costa Rica, Belize, Columbia, and took several cruises. He also spent time serving as a volunteer at the Southwest Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritans Center, the Benchmark Lookout Fire Tower and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Adolph was known for his pranks and practical jokes yet loved to serve others without reserve. Over the years Adolph and Diana opened their home to care for 8 children besides their own.
Adolph left his earthly life behind on August 29, 2016. A memorial service was held on September 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cortez, Colorado. Adolph's legacy lives on through his wife, Diana, daughters Yvonne (Dana) and Rhonda (Jeff), sons Todd (Carla) and Scott, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his sister, Ruth. He was welcomed home by two grandchildren, a son-in-law, a brother, sister and parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Cortez, Colorado.
