In 1770, of Concord, N.Y.
He was chosen clerk of the parish at a vestry meeting 8 April 1771, and clerk and one of the wardens on 19 April 1772.
In 1790, of Canaan, N.Y.

He served in the French and Indian War as a private in the campaigns of 1755, 1757, 1758, and 1761. [KJW note: He also spent time in Fleet Prison during the summer of 1777 for being a loyalist. He capitulated in the autumn and was released. This may account for a return to Derby that DLJ conjectures in his note re the second Charity.
