Joram J. CHATFIELD, 91, of 432 West Woodruff Ave., died yesterday in Maumee Valley Hospital after a year's illness. He was the oldest member of Central Christian Church.

Mr. Chatfield was born in Toledo in 1862 (should be 1863), the year his father, whom he never saw, was killed in the Civil War while serving as a volunteer with the 16th Ohio Cavalry.

Before Mr. Chatfield retired 25 years ago, he was known as "Little Joe, the Laundryman." He started in the laundry business in the 1880s, working for the old Fiske laundry, then on Ashland Ave. Later, he and his brother, Chester, operated their own plant at Adams and Eleventh Sts. He was a member of the Townsend Club and the Toledo Fifty Year Club.

Surviving are sons, Earl and Edward, both of Toledo, and Harry, Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
