He arrived Australia 1826 and had children with Susan Slater, aboriginal. None are reg on BDMs and no marriage is either. The family said they came from Denison Town.
He might be a convict listed as William CHATFIELD, arr Midas (2), 1827, sentenced to 7 years. Have been on Pt Jackson convict list sorting out details and still think this might be my William.

Susan had children, all registerd with BDMs to Charles EVANSON in this area starting about 1871 a couple of years after William Webb died. Charles, b Wales, said his father was an Admiral or Captain in the Royal Navy so he was white He and Susan married in 1893 in Coonabarabran and both died here. All registered with BDMs.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give with finding records of these children's births, locations of properties, William Webb himself and what and where he could have been between 1828 and 1859. This is the first time I have attempted to trace Aboriginal genealogy. I usually refer people to places that specialise in it. But this is a friend and the family is integral in Coonabarabran history so I decided to try it. I find that trying to marry oral history and family memories with official records is just that much more interesting in this case.

TIA, Alice
