William "Bud" Cecil Wooten
(December 16, 1939 - September 25, 2012)
William C. "Bud" Wooten, Jr. passed on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 72 after a long battle with lung cancer. Mr. Wooten was born in Ironton, OH and resided in Pensacola for the last 40 years. His church home was Graceway Baptist Church in Pensacola. During his younger years of life, William joined the US Navy where he served 14 years protecting our country. He was in the Vietnam War as a Military Advisor and earned several medals. William received his Chief Engineer license as a Merchant Marine Seaman where he passionately worked on Tug Boats for 15 years. With great delight and much pride, William would tell his many stories of life as a Merchant Marine and his service in the US Navy. He was so thankful to have been given many years to work in these environments.
Preceding William in death are his parents, William C. Wooten and Ida Wooten, sisters, Julia CHATFIELD, Phyllis Rice, and Janie Watson, and brother, Gordon Wooten. Mr. Wooten is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marguerite Blanton Wooten; many nieces and nephews in Ohio; a niece in Indiana; special nephew, Paul Chatfield of MS; cousin, Curt and Pat Wooten of St. Petersburg, FL; Many more close relatives and lots of special friends in Pensacola, FL. Special thanks for their help, support and loving kindness during this difficult time to Pastor Larry and Arbutus Mullins; his Church Family; friends, Mary and Tom Vigue; nieces, Janice Parker and Joyce Nye. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00pm Friday, September 28th at Pensacola Memorial Garden Funeral Home, 7433 Pine Forest Rd. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Pensacola Memorial Garden Funeral home with Pastor Larry Mullins officiating. Pallbearers will be Jesse Fillinggame, Clyde Parker, J.C. Oswald, Tyler Oswald, Jason Young and Larry Mullins, Jr.
