GAOL FOR FATHER AND SON
As the result of a disturbance at the Bendigo railway station on Monday afternoon a father and son appeared in the city court yesterday. The father. Richard Leslie Doidge 49, labourer, was sentenced to 7 days' imprisonment for having behaved in an offensive manner, while his son, Leslie Richard Doidge, 19, miner, was sentenced to 7 days' imprisonment for having behaved in an offensive manner, 14 days for having assaulted a ticket collector, and one month for having resisted arrest. The police stated that Doidge, jun, who was in a drunken condition, was "fighting mad" and struck the ticket collector in the chest and also threatened the stationmaster. It was necessary for the railway officials to close the grilles on the platform, after which father and son were involved in a brawl and the police had to be summoned.
