In fall of 1847 a fisherman met Mrs. Harding near the lighthouse running and crying "They've stolen my Mary" They had Mary aboard the schooner, she came back two weeks later married to Silas Wright. Since there was no law, etc on the Rock Island most people went to Chicago to marry or to Green Bay, WI.
