Harold Hills, age 86 of Spooner, died August 20, 2013 at Benedictine Living Center.
Harold was born January 27, 1927 in Scott Township to Stanton and Marion (Marsh) Hills. He proudly served the USA Navy. On April 19, 1948 he married Amy G. Cornelison in Pine City MN. He and Amy made their home in Danbury and later Hertel. In 1949 they moved to the Town of Scott where he has resided since.
Harold was active in a variety of civic organizations. He was a volunteer fireman working his way to Fire Chief for the Scott Volunteer Fire Dept.; a charter member of the Burnett County Citizen's Patrol and a volunteer Fire Warden for WI DNR issuing and reporting burning permits for over 20 years.
Harold wore many "hats" in his life time; from a commercial bus driver (where he met Amy); to farmhand, landscaper, carpenter, maintenance supervisor of rock crushing equipment, maintenance contractor of highline right of way for Polk Burnett Electric Coop and Barron County Electric. After retirement he joined Amy in her interest of bee keeping, and was taken on her mentor too. This led to a very productive partnership and the memberships in the WI Honey Association where all three were active contributors. Harold was an avid hunter and ice fisherman. He enjoyed time with his family and was very proud of his family.
Harold is preceded in death by his loving wife Amy; parents and stepfather Carl Koel; brothers Fred and Arnold; sisters Carol Fortney and Ella Kline. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Patricia Ann Skicki Hills and Lynnell Blakey; sisters Elaine Sutter and Ann Kitchel, sister-in law Kay Hills; his grandchildren Jerri (Debbie) Blakey, Amy Skicki, Julie Skicki, Tracy Blakey and Sara Washington and his great grandchildren Nathaniel Blakey, Makenna Washington, Cheyenne Whitlow, and Stevie Washington; nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2013 from 9am-11am at Taylor Family Funeral Home, Spooner. Interment following at 11:30am at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner. Arrangements were entrusted to Taylor Family Funeral Home.
