					Albert C. Bothfuhr, aged 62, a former sheriff and county treasurer who was
					prominent in the Republican political councils here for a quarter of a century, died
					of a kidney ailment at 7:10 pm Thursday evening at his home, at 172 North
					Harrison Avenue.
					"Al" as he was known to his many friends, came to Kankakee in 1914 from Grant
					Park where he was closely associated with the late Senator E. C. Curtis of that
					community and later with Gov. Len Small. Until his illness, he was office manager
					of the city disposal department.
					Born Dec. 17, 1875 at Grant Park, Illinois, he was married June 20, 1898 to
					Gertrude McChesney. They resided in Grant Park where he was the postmaster for
					several years until moving to Kankakee in 1914. Two years later he was elected to
					the office of sheriff and in 1920 he ran for county treasurer and was again elected.
					Then following this he worked with Gov. Small at the capital in Springfield, Illinois.
					He was a member of several branches of the Masonic order and the Elks Club.
					He is survived by his widow and four children, Mrs. Marguerite Russell of
					Champaign, Mrs. Hattie Chatfield of Wilmington, Mrs. Mayme Hutchins of Chicago,
					and Albert Jr. at home; a brother Henry of San Francisco, a sister Mayme Cloidt of
					Sollitt and five grandchildren.
