George Elisha Hill was my grandfather, and his birthday was always celebrated on the 28th.
I looked at the Michigan Births and Christenings on ancestry, and found that is an index only---not the original image. Perhaps the transcriber made an error.
I also looked at images of his original Draft Registration Cards for both WWI and WWII, and he gave his birth date as 28 Jul 1881.
On another note, have you done much research on the Chatfield line? I would be very interested in exchanging information with you.
