Corporal Morse was the son of Charles and Hannah Morse. He was serving in the 16th Vermont Infantry, Co. A. when he was killed at the battle of Gettysburg. He was 40 years 8 months old. This monument serves as a cenotaph. He is buried in the Vermont plot at Gettysburg National Cemetery.
