Narrative

Colin, this is my first attempt at anything like this. If you can't read the cuttings, let me know and I'll try something else.
I need to tell you to wipe out all Teasdales - my great Aunt Ann McDonald, my grandfather's sister, was a spinster all her life and lived most of it with her mother, Ruth Ann McDonald (nee Chatfield). Ann McDonald -b 9 April1864 d16 August 1947 Buried Dudley Park Cemetery, SA.
As you asked, I am the daughter of Murray Malcolm Hugh McDonald b 27 July 1924 d 12 May 1974, the youngest child of John Chatfield McDonald and Margaret May (nee Rooney). I have 1 brother, Malcolm Chatfield McDonald. Where do you fit? I haven't seen your name anywhere yet.
Back to Harriet & Levi - I have checked with my aunt's son (she has gone to God), and it seems no info she had re the family has survived. I think Tickner is probably the correct spelling, and it was copied wrongly. As for her second name, I now realise it was not mentioned until her death in 1875, and Harriet Jean Kelsey is noted in the Hindmarsh Cemetery records. Her youngest child was named Harriet Jane Chatfield. Just to confuse matters, I also had an Ann Chatfield popping up when researching the family. I have seen no records re Levi & Harriet's marriage.
An old aunt who died at 101 years in 1998, and who had no children, had a lot of info & photos of the family. I have called the nephew who may have it all now, but so far he hasn't answered me.
From all those pages you sent on 11/2, I have many amendments, and am not sure how to go about it. For the whole family of Hugh and Ruth Ann McDonald I have all birth & death dates, and in some instances you don't have their spouses (let alone all generations after that - but that's a whole ne w thing). Are you interested in this info?
Regarding the newspaper cutting re Ruth Ann McDonald, someone has taken poetic licence. I don't know about being born in Kent. The family certainly did not arrive here on the Buffalo (that was a family legend for a long time), and she and Hugh McDonald were married on 12 January 1859 at Trinity Church. The rest would seem to be fairly true.
In my searching 25+ years ago I came across this newspaper article which probably has nought to do with anything, but is interesting all the same.
from the Kapunda Herald Friday 26 June 1868 - "Skillogolee Creek Tuesday June 23 Two brothers named CHATFIELD, living on Hoyle's Plains went in pursuit of a man whom they detected stealing their horse from a paddock on Friday last (19th) and have not since been seen or heard of (23rd), or their horses either. The affair looks very ugly indeed, and the neighbours and police are in active search. It is supposed they went into the scrub, and whether they have been foully done by, or are lost,is at present a matter of speculation till they are found, or tidings received. Should it be the former and the perpetrator (if not captured before) return to these parts, his life will be in terrible jeopardy. I will send full particulars when known." The men were found Friday 26 June - had been chasing a bushranger, but lost him. The press weren't averse to beating up a story even then.
Hear from you soon. Jude.
