========================
The daughter of William and Margaret Avery, Zipporah (the mother) was born on August 28, 1793, in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. Her arrival came just 18 days after the start of the French Revolution. Zipporah and David would be among the nation's first generation to pioneer Ohio. There they delivered babies number six through ten, while their first five children had been born in Worthington, Massachusetts. Some time after their fifth child died in Worthington, Massachusetts, 1825, the couple moved to Twinsburg, Ohio. Esther Brewster, their sixth child was born in Twinsburg (Summit County) in 1827, the year that the state of New York abolished slavery. The Herricks were farmers in Twinsburg, their living maintained by crop sales for 19 years before Zipporah passed away. Zipporah died on September 30, 1848, and was buried in the Herrick plot at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Twinsburg.
