Nancy Tinker, daughter of Ira Tinker and Ella Abby McMullen was born in Dearborn County, Indiana. She was the second wife of Phillip Connor Ross, married December 9, 1851 in Manchester Township of Dearborn County. They had 4 children.
After Phillip Ross's death in 1865 she joined in her second marriage to Charles S. Nehemiah on February 20, 1873 in Dearborn County, Ind. Nehemiah lost one leg in the Civil War. By 1880 Nancy and Charles relocated to Cedar Creek, Lake County, Indiana, where they raised two more children.
