Floyd L. Bordner, age 81 of Jonesville, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center with his loving family by his side. He was born February 20, 1933 in Montpelier, OH to Willard and Beatrice Bordner. Floyd was raised by Willard and Mary (Beck) Bordner. Floyd was a graduate of Jonesville High School in 1951, formerly employed at Beebe Funeral Home in Jonesville and attended MSU. Floyd worked for the US Postal Service for over 30 years dividing his time between Jonesville and Concord, where he retired in 1988. Floyd served in the US Army in Anchorage, Alaska from 1953-1954.
Floyd was a Legion member for 61 years, Jonesville School Board member, Township Clerk, Village Treasurer, Hillsdale Community Health Center volunteer, Jonesville Eagles, Hillsdale Elks, Hillsdale Moose, Jonesville First Presbyterian Church member, had served on Session, Jonesville Village Council, Jonesville Fire Department for 50 years and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid MSU fan and enjoyed watching the Spartans.
Floyd married Helen Potts on June 6, 1952 and she survives as do children Leanna Bordner of Normal, IL, Vicky (Gerry) Arno and Renee (Tom) Sawdey, both of Jonesville and Mark (Shirley) Bordner of Hudsonville, MI; 5 grandchildren, Ernie, Adam, Amanda, DeNell and Erica; and a great-grandson, Wyatt.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Herbert and Willard Bordner.
