NOTES
There is a Thomas Chatfield baptised 23 June 1706 in Balcombe to Thomas Chatfield and Jane Gray who were married on 2 June 1703 in Balcombe. Jane would have been too old to have had Charles in 1747. However, their son Thomas seems much more likely as the father of Charles.
