He is survived by his wife; five sons, James Jr. of Trego, Steven (Darlene) of Hertel, John of Webster, Ernie of Shell Lake, and Dean (Serena) of Spooner; four daughters, Bonnie (Jack) Moser of Webster, Connie (Terry) Smith of Trego, Helen Jean Mortensen of Spooner, and May Mortensen of Shell Lake; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, David of Sarona; and one sister, Rachel Gullickson of Shell Lake. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian; three sisters; and two brothers. Lillian Gertrude Houts was born on 1 June 1932. She died on 29 December 1951 at the age of 19. She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie (Jack) Moser of Webster, Connie (Terry) Smith of Trego, Helen Jean Mortensen of Spooner, and May Mortensen of Spooner; five sons, James of Trego, Steven (Darlene) of Hertel, John of Webster, Ernie of Shell Lake, and Dean (Serena) of Spooner; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Winnie Kreps of Rochester, Penn., and Alberta Sherwood of Glennwood, Ill.; two brothers, Henry Bos of Shell Lake and Robert Bos of Spooner.
