Egbert Chatfield H. Chatfield was arrested and tried for murder of Dominik Kearns in Rochester, N.Y at the Thomas Curvin`s Brooks Avenue Tavern on May 26th, 1895. He was acquitted. The story was from the Democrat and Chronicle Sunday, Dec. 6, 1981. Egbert died by drowning years later. My mother thinks she heard that it was suicide but not sure. My mother told that grandma`s father (he was a house carpenter) used a lot of his money to hire good lawyers. Stories of families are very interesting.
