Ward Jay Chatfield, 76, of Junction City, former El Dorado resident, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1993. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Junction City, and 2 p.m. Thursday in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia.

He was born March 16, 1916, to Jay Clarence and Ida Mae Reddick Chatfield, near Birmingham, Mich., where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1949 and was stationed in England.

On March 28, 1953, he and Ada Maude Guy were married in Junction City. She preceded him in death Aug. 30, 1981. He was a retired legal secretary and stenographer for Hoover Schermerhorn Lawn Firm. He lived in El Dorado from 1975 to 1981 when he moved to Junction City. His memberships included First Christian Church elder, VFW, DAV, Sertoma Club and Concerned Citizens for the Blind & Visually Impaired. He was a volunteer for Susan B. Allen Hospital.

Survivors include: daughter, Susan Griswold of Colorado Springs; brother, Chester of Gladwin, Mich.

Ada Maude Guy, daughter of Frederick Hancock Guy and Maude Cornelia Springer, was born on 17 January 1913 in Butler Co., Kansas, USA. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Little Walnut, Butler Co., Kansas, USA. She died on 30 August 1981 at the age of 68 in Butler Co., Kansas, USA. Ada was born to Fred and Maude (Springer) Guy on January 17, 1913. On March 28, 1953 she married Ward Chatfield in Junction City, KS. Mrs. Chatfield had been a resident of Junction City and Butler County all her life. She taught at Junction City, Leon and Rosalia. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Susan.
