Hello Colin,

I was looking through your work Chatfield World History 1446 - Present and must say, it is impressive. I would like you to consider a change to both Hannah Whitmore CHATFIELD w/o Clark CHATFIELD and an assumed daughter named Maria from the 1870 federal census, i.e. Census: With dau Viola & Maria Chatfield in household of John & Clarissa Whitmore. 1870 New York, USA

I believe Maria CHATFIELD to be Hannah, m. Clark CHATFIELD age 15 for the following reasons:

1. Hannah was 6 in the 1860 federal census living with her parents but does not appear in the 1870 census although she is still living.
2. Maria is listed as CHATFIELD but is in the middle of the WHITMORE children
3. Maria CHATFIELD was b. c. 1854; Clark CHATFIELD and Esther CREGO were married in 1856
4. I cannot find any mention of a Maria CHATFIELD in any published references.
5. Hannah was a common nickname for Maria/Mary as was Polly

I believe I may have found Clark and Hannah CHATFIELD interred at the Shepard Settlement Cemetery as S.C. CHATFIELD and Hannah CHATFIELD. Notes from the Skaneateles Historical Society references "Hannah as being interred Jan 1923 at age 71" which nearly fits Hannah Whitmore CHATFIELD.

Find A Grave Memorial # 20205024 has to be Clark Chatfield. I asked the manager if she would verify that S C Chatfield is Clark Chatfield. Louise Catherine Chatfield Castleman is daughter of both records.
