She graduated from Edgerton High School, attended Milton College and graduated from Whitewater Normal School. She married Norman A. Chatfield on June 27, 1929. She taught in the Milton School District for 18 years, volunteered at Mercy Hospital, was a member of the Royal Neighbors, The Gathering Place, The Milton Historical Society and a former member of Milton Tops #744, the Prairie du Lac Quilters, the Milton Woman's Club and the Rebekah Lodge. She was a long-time member of the Milton United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities within the church: various women's organizations, the Board of Trustees, was involved with obtaining the first organ and also served as organist for a period of time. In 1992 Elizabeth was chosen one of the Ten Most Admired Senior Citizens of Wisconsin. She was a supporter of youth groups, and AIDS programs. In 1998 she moved to Florida. She is survived by her daughters: Marilyn (Keith) Stubbendick of Palmetto, FL; Donna (Salvatore 'Sam') Campana of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; grandchildren: Shirleen Seitz of Kenosha, Keith A. Stubbendick of LaCrosse, Stephanie Lacenski of Flower Mound, TX; a step-grandson, Perry Campana of Philadelphia, PA; and nine great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her son, Ronald; her parents; a brother and two sisters.
