Nancy Lee Mason and Marshall Wayne Umstot were married on 29 February 1956. Marshall Wayne Umstot was born on 7 January 1931 in Mineral, Louisa Co., Virginia, USA. He died on 25 September 2014 at the age of 83 in Virginia, USA. He was buried in Albert G Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cmtry., Suffolk, Suffolk City, Virginia, USA. Parents: He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He retired after 20 years in the Naval Submarine Service. He also worked for Bruce Flournoy Ford and retired in 1996 after 18 years as truck shop foreman for Miller Oil Co. After that, gardening, hunting and fishing became his joys. For over forty years country music was a big part of his life. He played lead guitar for numerous bands and for family gatherings. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy; daughters, Sheryl Payne and Judy Landerer; sons, Marshall Jr. and wife, Tammie, Michael of Palm Springs, CA; his sisters, Barbara Gross and husband, Don of TN, Sharon Sheffler and husband, Ray of MD, Mary Rhodes of VA; brother, Michael Umstot of VA. Others left to cherish his memories are his grandchildren, Leanne Perry and husband, Jason, Shelly Avery and husband, Paul, Travis Umstot and wife, Jennifer, Timothy Umstot, Ryan Umstot, Courtney Umstot, Andrea Landerer and Louis Landerer and wife, Casey. He also has 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Reggie Hester officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may send donations to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 917 Carolina Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434 or a charity of your choice. Many thanks go to the wonderful people at Heartland Hospice who were so caring and comforting during his last days, and also to our many friends who lifted him up in prayers.
