Born December 16, 1876 in New Hampton, Iowa, he came as a young man to Duluth, where he lived for a few years prior to moving to the Range 65 years ago, first to Buhl and later to Mountain Iron, where he had lived since. He was employed in the early days as a locomotive engineer for the Hanna Mining Co. and later as a stationary engineer for the Mountain Iron schools. His wife, Ora, preceded him in death March 2, 1955. He was as a member of First Presbyterian Church.
