ORTON DIES AT HOSPITAL Following an operation at the St. George hospital, Nephi Johnson Orton died about noon on Monday of this week, after having recovered in good condition from the operation. As previously reported in these columns, he has been in a very critical condition, the victim of a cancerous growth on his neck, and he had wasted away until he weighed less than 100 pounds. His condition was such that only a local anesthetic could be given before operating in an attempt to relieve him. Removed to his bed after the operation was over, he seemed to have relaxed after the ordeal, and was perfectly rational when the end came. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ambrose Guymon and Miss Alice Orton, his only children, a grandson and several brothers and sisters and more distant relative, his wife having died twenty-four years ago in December. |
