Allen H. Lordson, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, Fla.

Al was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Pickford, Mich., the son of Ellsworth and Rena Lordson. He graduated from Pickford High School in 1957.

He then went on to meat cutting school and obtained his first job in meat cutting at Kroger's in Petoskey, Mich., where he met and married his first wife, Lila J. Orient.

After Lila's death in 1977, Al met Shirley Morin and they later married in 1980.

He was a meat cutter for several years, in addition to working for Seifert's as a salesman and owning his own business, Cottage Care. In retirement, he mowed lawns in the summer in Northern Michigan and continued to cut meat in Florida in the winter months.

He loved to spend time with his grandkids on Burt Lake fishing and boating and also enjoyed camping and hitting the casinos. Al also was a devoted NASCAR, Michigan State, and Detroit Lions fan.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley; his two children, Todd (Andrea) Lordson of Santee, Calif., and Tuesday (Mike) Brighton of Lake Odessa, Mich. He also is survived by his stepchildren, Jeannie (Morin) Hoffhines of Tulsa, Okla., Bill (Erica) Morin of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Laurie (Morin) Snitko of Rio Verde, Ariz. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Mallory, Brian, Olivia and Yahir Lordson, Parker and Alli Brighton, Daniel and Kelly Hoffhines, Taylor, Breck, and Braeden Morin, and Connor Snitko; one sister, Marion (Jim) Miller; and two brothers, Tony (Lois) Lordson and Robert (Colleen) Lordson. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place this summer on Burt Lake.
