James W. Elston age 59 of Eckelson, North Dakota died unexpectedly Wednesday July 1, 2009 at The MeritCare Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday July 6, 2009 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City, North Dakota with Reverend Dan Bader officiating. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday in the church. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Valley City.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday in Epworth United Methodist Church and one hour before services in the church on Monday.

James Wesley Elston was born January 23, 1950 at Valley City, North Dakota the son of Paul L. and Alice (Newbury) Elston. Jim grew up in The Eckelson, North Dakota area and graduated from North Central of Barnes High School near Rogers, North Dakota in 1968. Jim started farming with his dad. He married Judy Ness on May 25, 1974 at Argyle, Minnesota. The couple lived near Eckelson, North Dakota where they farmed and raised their family.

Jim was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City and The Valley City Eagles Club.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy, six sons Wesley (Michele) Elston, Eckelson, North Dakota, Seth (Emy) Elston, Crookston, Minnesota, Daniel (Jennifer) Leal, North Dakota, Tyler Elston, Sanborn, North Dakota, Ryley Elston, Sanborn, North Dakota and Steven (Kristy) Rewey, Madison, Wisconsin. His mother Alice Elston, Valley City, North Dakota, one brother David (Nancy) Elston, Wimbledon, North Dakota one sister Darlene (Phillip) Mueller, Valley City, North Dakota, ten grandchildren, LeAnna Rewey, James Rewey, Loretta Rewey, Louisa Rewey, Ian Elston, Hailey Elston, Paige Elston, Noah Elston, Joel Elston and Ryder Elston.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and one sister Beverly Shirley.

James Wesley Elston and Judy Kay Ness were married on 25 May 1974 in Argyle, Lafayette Co., Minnesota, USA. Judy Kay Ness was born on 9 October 1954 in Clay Co., Minnesota, USA.
