Phil Farnsworth of Jackson, Michigan graduated to Heaven on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 under the wonderful care of the staff at the Bethany Hospice Home. He was born, April 12, 1947, to Irving and Frances Farnsworth of Lansing, Michigan. During Phil’s full life he served as a Pastor for many years in Michigan and Midwest states. After pastoring, God led him into a ministry as a full time Evangelist with the Michigan District Assemblies of God. As an evangelist, God gave him the opportunity to minister through word and song in churches across the nation in multiple denominations and teach in the Bible School in the Philippines. He went wherever the door of ministry was open, no matter the size of the church. Reaching people for Christ was his life passion. As he was able, Phil also served as a volunteer in Boy Scouting with his four sons. After his stroke in 1999 he was no longer able to preach and sing. God opened new doors for him through the Boy Scouts of America and, for a few years, he was able to serve in a professional position, as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America Michigan Crossroads Council. He enjoyed coordinating events and training for boys and adult leaders across three counties in southern Michigan. After health issues no longer allowed him to continue his employment, Phil continued as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts. He became the Scoutmaster for Troop 312, bringing that troop from 5 boys to over 30. It continues to thrive as a very healthy troop today. Phil also served in so many areas of leadership (too many to list) on the district, council, and regional levels. Phil received many honors for his years of volunteer service through Boy Scouts, including the Silver Beaver award, the highest award given in Boy Scouts to a volunteer for their service. His influence and mentorship in the lives of boys and adult leadership will live on in their lives for years to come. He lived his faith for everyone to see, and shared Christ whenever given the opportunity. He has now received his highest reward, seeing Jesus face to face. He is in no more pain and his body is now perfect. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Roxie and sons Aaron and Stephen. Phil is survived by his wife of 32 ½ years, his three sons , 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sister and brother, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many, many friends A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson (743 West Michigan Ave, Jackson, Michigan 49201) on Monday, January 26, 2015 beginning at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev.
