She was a devoted mother and homemaker and was a member of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church. Mrs. Chatfield was a former member of the Rainbow Girls, a past president of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Prospect Community School PTA, a 63-year member of the Prospect Canasta Club, and a former member of the board of directors of the Prospect Drum Corps. Mrs. Chatfield is survived by her loving family: three daughters, Marjorie Jane Peterson and her husband, Bill, of Palm Desert, Calif., Arrol E. McGarvey and her husband, Tom, of Prospect, Nancy J. Marcella and her husband, Robert, of North Haven; two sons, Robert J. Chatfield and his wife, Ginny, of Prospect, and Donald L. Chatfield and his wife, Jeanne, of Prospect; four grandchildren, Leslie Chatfield, Michael Chatfield, Kelly Young and Thomas McGarvey Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zack, Jonathan and Leah; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elaine Chatfield, and a brother, Merrill "Bing" Kelsey. Mrs. Chatfield's family would like to thank Dr. Drew Edwards, her primary care physician, Dr. Reis, her cardiologist, the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, Karen Martin APRN, Dr. Kert Sabbath for his kind words toward the end of her life, as well as the staff for their special care. The family also would like to thank Audrey Leete of Connecticut Hospice and everyone who was so very kind and caring during their mother's illness. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday April 26, 2010, at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial in Prospect Cemetery.
