Holton Recorder, March 12, 1984, page 2: Mrs. Hickman was a Linotype operator for Gossip Printery at Holton from 1943 until 1961. She later worked for Allen Press at Lawrence from 1962 until 1973. She was born August 17, 1907, at Burlingame, the daughter of W.J. and Tillie Idly Chatfield. She moved from Harveyville to Holton in 1943. She was married to Virgil Lane in November 1929. He died January 8, 1939. She was married to Arthur "Otis" Hickman July 26, 1951. He died in May 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lorna Pfeiffer, Holton, and Mrs. Jean Tawney, Topeka; a son, Bill Lane, Holton; a sister, Almeda Chatfield, Emporia; a brother, Clarence Chatfield, Topeka; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services were to be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial was to be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holton Hospital Heart Monitor Fund and sent in care of Kansas State Bank, Holton, 66436. Lucena Pauline Chatfield and Virgil Lane were married in November 1929 in Kansas, USA. Virgil Lane, son of William Harvey Lane and Mary B Walker, was born in 1907. He died Automobile accident. on 21 January 1939 at the age of 32 in Pottawatomie Co., Kansas, USA. He was buried on 23 January 1939 in Mount Hope Cmtry., Topeka, Shawnee Co., Kansas, USA. He was a member of Masonic orders at St. Marys. Lane and Bob Dalton were returning from Westmoreland where they had purchased 1939 auto tags when the accident happened. Lane is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pauline Lane; one son, Billy Dean; two daughters, Lorna and Virjean Lane, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Lane of Harveyville; and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Kindell, St. Marys. Lucena Pauline Chatfield and Virgil Lane had the following children:
