Marie J. Miller, age 92, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at the Bowman House Assisted Living, in Three Rivers.
Marie was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Sturgis, a daughter to the late Frank H. and Zelma R. (Osborn) Strong.
She was a life long resident of the Sturgis and Burr Oak area, graduating from Burr Oak High School with the Class of 1938.
On Jan. 25, 1941, she married George W. Gordon in Burr Oak, he preceded her in death in 1975. On Dec. 6, 1985, she married Max Miller in Burr Oak.
Marie had worked 19 years at the Prairie Lake Tavern and later for Owens Classic both of Sturgis.
She is survived by her husband, Max of Sturgis; daughter, Dorothy (Larry) Smith of Centreville; step son Marty Miller of Maryland; and daughter-in-law Pat Gordon of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Lisa of Fort Myers, Fla. Billy (Mary Jo) of Sturgis and Bob (Deb) of Three Rivers; step granddaughter Michelle; and great-grandson Brett; great-granddaughters, Cree and Teeva; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Gordon; son, Gary Gordon; grandson, Gary Wayne Gordon; step grandson, Jason Miller; sister, Eunice Jackson; and five brothers, Jesse, Kenneth, Franklin, Clyde and Floyd Strong.
In accordance to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service and burial of ashes will take place Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.
