41. William Chatfield was born in 1576 in Oving, Sussex West, England. He died in 1650 at the age of 74. William Chatfield, of Oving, co. Sussex, born probably about 1576, received his portion of the goods of his father by the latter’s will in 1594 and a legacy of £50 by the will of his uncle, George Chatfield, in 1599/1600. He was an assessor for the Hundred of Box and Stockbridge, in which Oving is situated, in the subsidy of 1596-7. He resided on the ancestral farm of Groves in Oving, where his names appears on the Protestation Roll in Feb. 1641/2. He probably acquired Groves by deed from his brothers Francis and George, to whom it was left by the will of their uncle George in 1599/1600, who states that it had been conveyed to him by his father, Richard Chatfield.

William Chatfield and Sarah ? were married in 1602. Sarah ? died on 12 September 1642 in Oving, Sussex West, England.

William Chatfield and Sarah ? had the following children:

90	i.	Francis Chatfield was born in 1603. He died on 29 March 1607 at the age of 4.
91	ii.	John Chatfield was born in 1605 in Sussex West, England. He was christened on 6 October 1605 in Oving, Sussex West, England. He died in 1618 at the age of 13.
92	iii.	Elizabeth Chatfield was born in 1607 in Sussex West, England. She was christened on 21 February 1607 in Oving, Sussex West, England. She died on 23 May 1629 at the age of 22.

94	v.	Edward Chatfield was born in 1610 in Sussex West, England. He was christened on 19 August 1610 in Oving, Sussex West, England. He died on 4 August 1612 at the age of 2. 95	vi.	Samuel Chatfield was born in 1611 in Sussex West, England. He was christened on 20 January 1611 in Oving, Sussex West, England. He died on 7 April 1614 at the age of 3.
96	vii.	Richard Chatfield was born in 1614 in Sussex West, England. He was christened on 6 November 1614 in Oving, Sussex West, England. He died in 1630 at the age of 16.
