Earl was born July 10, 1921, in Quincy, Ill., a son of Edwin and Thelma Budde Behrensmeyer. He married Betty A. Golliher on June 7, 1947, in Quincy. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2001. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a medic and served in the Northern Africa and European Campaigns. He began working for the C.B. and Q. railroad and retired from Burlington Northern in 1991, after 45 years of service. Earl was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan, Trinity Lodge 208 A.F. & A.M., Davenport, and the Davenport Moose Lodge. He enjoyed dancing and gardening. He is survived by his son, Kim Behrensmeyer, Milan, and his fiancee, Terri Bergthold, Davenport; daughter, the Rev. Gay Behrensmeyer, Illinois City; granddaughter, Lindsay (Christopher) Bayer, Galesburg; special friend, Harriet Bealer, Rock Island; sister, Norma Schreiber, Davenport; brothers, Robert Behrensmeyer, and his wife, June, Davenport, David Behrensmeyer, and his special friend, Connie, Davenport, and Tom Behrensmeyer, and his wife, Bertie, Princeton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
