Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Thomassen, residents of Millbrook, died in a two-car head-on crash in Hillsdale Sunday, June 29.
Mr. Thomassen. 48. was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. and his wife, Julia, 53, died shortly afterwards at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Both had been residents of Millbrook for many years.
He was a machinist with the A.W. Mack Company in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Thomassen was a registered nurse, at Millbrook School. Mr. Thomassen had been a member of the Millbrook Board of Education and was a member of the Parker-Height, American Legion Post in Millbrook, having served as commander and chaplain.
He was born in Millbrook April 11. I927, the son of Anders and Rose Franko Thomassen. She was born March 3, 1922. in Poughkeepsie, the daughter of Thomas and Julia Flagher Pendell. Her parents survive in Pleasant Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomassen are survived by three sons. Thomas, Poughkeepsie; Craig and Soren,
Millbrook and a daughter, Paula, Millbrook.
In addition, Mr. Thomassen is survived by his mother in Millbrook; a brother, Edmund. Dripping Spring, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Spear, Fort Edward, and Mrs. Beatrice Lonsdale, Naples, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomassen is survived by a sister, Mrs. Grace Simmons, Poughkeepsie.
Funeral services were conducted at the Lyall Memorial Federated Church in Millbrook on Wednesday, July 2. Rev. Richard Colen officiated. Burial was in Nine Partners Burial Ground, Millbrook.
