387. Samuel Chatfield II was born on 17 April 1733 in Redding, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. He was christened on 29 July 1733 in Redding, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. He died in July 1798 at the age of 65 in Redding, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. NOTE Samuel and his wife Joanna, were admitted to church fellowship Dec. 2, 1764 "The Chatfield Family" 1896. Samuel served in one of the short levies in the 7th CT Reg., commanded by Col. Heman Swift. His descendants are eligible for membership in D.A.R. "The Chatfield Family", by William C. Inventory dated 3 Sept 1798 totalled L154-8-10. Lydia Chatfield widow and relict exhibited a partial will executed by the sd dec'd dated 6 Mar 1795 in which he called himself "of Derby" and provided for Lydia and "my wife's daughter Sarah Peck for services with me while under age". On 6 May 1799 distribution was made to the widow, L11-17-11 in personal estate over and above the articles given in the will; to daughter Joanna Gunn L7-17-4; to daughter Sarah Osborn L7-17-5; to daughter Rachel Chatfield L7-17-2; to the widow in real estate, 6+ acres; to Samuel Chatfield 8+ acres adjoining the widow's dower; to Joseph & Josiah Chatfield 14 acres on the N side of Bisset Swamp in equal and undivided shares; to Joanna & Rachel equal and undivided shares of 6+ acres on Camp's Hill adjacent to Samuel; and to Sarah 2+ acres separated from the other piece on Camp's Hill and a second very small parcel. Samuel Chatfield II and Joanna Gunn were married about 1759. Joanna Gunn died on 20 August 1783 in Waterbury, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. She is called by the last name of GUNN in Anderson's History of Waterbury Conn. Vol 1. Appendix, p. 35, but this is doubtful. Samuel Chatfield II and Joanna Gunn had the following children: Samuel Chatfield II and Lydia (Peck) Pardee were married on 1 January 1784. Lydia (Peck) Pardee, daughter of Daniel Pardee and Lydia Porter, was born on 27 October 1736. The name Pardee is probable but not proven (New England Genealogical Society Record Vol. LXXVIII) Page 263 1924.
