He married Felicia Mary Elizabeth Bulman, daughter of Dr. John Roderick Bulman, on 16 May 1969. He died on 30 September 2007 at age 90 at Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Ernle David Lewis Chatfield, 2nd Baron Chatfield was educated between 1926 and 1930 at King's Mead, Seaford, Sussex, England. He was educated between 1930 and 1934 at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England. He was educated between 1934 and 1936 at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor General of Canada between 1940 and 1945. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Chatfield, of Ditchling, co. Sussex [U.K., 1937] on 15 November 1967. He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. He lived in 2003 at 535 Island Road, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Baron CHATFIELD, 90 He Was Aide-De-Camp To The Governor General Victoria -- Baron CHATFIELD of Ditching, who served as aide-de-camp to a governor general during the Second World War, has died at his Oak Bay home. He was 90. As a young lieutenant in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, he was at Pier 61 in Halifax in 1940 to greet the Earl of Athlone on his arrival to take up the post of Governor General. He served the earl throughout the war, attending him at such events as the 1943 New Year's levee at the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. The soldier also was feted in his own honour, as a former Ontario cabinet minister and wife hosted a tea at the Toronto Hunt Club in 1941.
