Richard Lee Malone, 79, of Homestead, Florida died Wednesday April 2, 2014 with loving family members at his side. He was born on July 12, 1934 in Palmyra, Missouri to Minnie Chatfield and Austin Malone as the eldest of 6 - Caroline (dec), John (dec), Barry (dec), Jerry, Ron, Don. He wed his loving wife of 58 years, Janice L. Walker on April 14, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas. He was beloved by his 5 children, Rhonda Houston, Curtis Malone (dec), Teresa Brady, Craig Malone, Gary Malone and his 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Houston, Ashlee Brady, Alyssa Malone, Connor Malone. Richard served 20 years in the US Air Force and retired at the rank of MSgt. After his military service he received a Bachelors of Education in 1979 from Florida International University and served his community for 20 years as a Dade County High School teacher & vocational instructor. In retirement, Richard enjoyed gardening, woodworking and especially wood art. He was an active member of the church he loved - Redland Nazarene Church of Homestead, Florida. A beautiful memorial service and reception was held on the church grounds on April 5, 2014. Richard was laid to rest Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the South Florida National Cemetery where he received full military honors for his dedicated service to his country.
