What is the story with Edward?

On the 1930 census Edward J Chatfield born about 1904 is described as a nephew of the Maltby's. Why he isn't with Joram on the 1910 census is not clear but understandable as Sarah nee Dull took him on and raised him following his mother Maggie's death in 1904.
On the 1930 census Edward's parents were born in Michigan and Scotland, that at least fits Maggie but not Sarah Dull.
So I believe as his marriage record clearly states he is the son of Joram and Maggie without doubt. Perhaps he got on better with Chester and Sarah as Maggie died around the time of his birth and perhaps new wife Flora wasn't interested or Chester and Sarah were content to bring him up. Perhaps Joram couldn't face the role of a lone parent father, quite understandable.

As Joram and Chester Chatfield were brothers and Edward J Chatfield was born 14 Feb 1904 and Margaret R Smith \ Young Chatfield, wife of Chester P Chatfield, died 20 Feb 1904 it is assumed that there is an error on the 1910 census showing Edward J as son of Joram Chatfield and not as nephew. It seems likely that Joram and Sarah Chatfield brought up young Edward J and that is why Joram is listed as father on his marriage record.
