Lyman Chatfield dies in New York Funeral services with cremation were held Saturday in New York for Lyman G. Chatfield, 55, former Dallas resident. Chatfield, who died in a New York hospital, was the son of the late F. W. and Elizabeth Chatfield, pioneer Texas educators and longtime Dallas residents. While a young man he went to South America as a mining engineer. He served as a captain and operations officer with the 360th Infantry Regiment of the 90th Division, and later with the Army of Occupation after World War I. He participated in the Battle of the Marne, the San Mihiel Drive and the Argonne Forest Battle and was cited for gallantry in action. At the time of his death he was connected with the Bureau of Ships in the Navy Department. His is survived by his wife [Edith] in New York, a son, John K. Chatfield, and granddaughter who live at 9414 Northcliff Drive; a brother, F. B. Chatfield, 6008 Tremont; a sister, Mrs. J. H. Nicholson, and granddaughter, Joan Chatfield, 5406 Gaston—The Dallas Morning News, Aug. 26, 1945; section IV, page 9 Edith K ? was born about 1891 in Arkansas, USA.
