Laura Evelyn Thompson, age 84, of Independence, Missouri formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Grove's Nursing Home in Independence.

She was born on May 11, 1925, in Warrensburg, the daughter of Leo and Nellie Holloway Coffman.

On July 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to Carl J. Thompson. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1953.

Mrs. Thompson worked for Dr. James Whiteman as a bookkeeper and Office Manager. She retired in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.L. Coffman; two sisters: Carol Gillam and Dona Downing and a nephew Michael Gillam
