GALVA WEEKLY NEWS - 22 March 1922: ******************************** Isaac Grant, age 84, died Monday afternoon in the Soldiers' Home at Quincy. When a young man, he came to Galva and for many years operated a meat market in this city. During the Great Galva fire his business was destroyed. He served during the Civil War. During the past three years he has spent the winter months at the Soldiers' Home, returning to Galva each spring and spending the remainder of his time at his home here. He has made his residence in Galva continuously since coming here from LaFayette, where his parents were early settlers of this section of Illinois.

From the time she was stricken with apoplexy on June 8 till her death she never fully regained consciousness. Mrs. Grant was a woman whose life was centered in her home. There, with husband and daughter, surrounded by books of which she possessed, and she read the best that were ever written, she was happy. Her friendships were warm, true, and lasting; and her life as pure as the flowers of May. The passing of such a life from this community leaves a void that cannot be filled.
