Alf and his brother Harry were my great-grandmother's older half-siblings. Harry was a successful banker, and his only child LeRoy "Bill" Edwards was a successful mechanical engineer. My family knew Harry's branch quite well. Alf's and Fannie's family was more disconnected from the other Edwards relatives, for obvious reasons. My grandfather and his siblings knew Alf's three children, but not as well. The daughter Myrtle was a nanny/housekeeper for the Compton family in Bloomfield, NJ, and later Irvington-on-the-Hudson, NY, as you may know. I'm not aware of any living descendants of Alfred and Fannie (Young) Edwards. But now, finding out about Irving's daughter Ruth Edwards (born about 1920), I wonder if there might be. Thanks again! Was "nannie" for the Compton family for many years. ----- A Compton family member remembers her as follows:"... Myrtle was always positive and was fun to be around. She would give me the best massages every night and tell me interesting stories. She always believed in taking a daily long walk and was ahead of her time when it comes to exercise. She took care of me when my mother went back to teaching when I was 4. Myrtle loved to do sewing, knitting and crafts and I remember her making clothes for my Barbie doll. I think about her with fond and loving memories." ----- It seems that family circumstances were such that Harry's granddaughter might not have known, or Harry's family might not have had any contact with Irving's family. They were in touch with Irving's sister Myrtle, presumably, since my family was. My great uncle Harwood "Eric" Fish, in a letter to me dated 7 Sep. 1979, said of Irving and Stanley Edwards: "... while I have met them, they were not very close to their sister nor very communicative as to the rest of the family. I have never had an address for either of them." The name and address of "Elizabeth Paluscio" as Irving's "daughter", came from Rev. Frederick Jenkins, whose wife, I believe, was a Compton (the family Myrtle Edwards lived with). Myrtle died while visiting Rev. and Mrs. Jenkins in Irvington-on-Hudson, NY, and Myrtle's funeral service was held at his church there (Presbyterian). I've just spoken with a church staff member there, who offered to pass along my contact information to the late Rev. Jenkins's family. I'd like to know where Myrtle was buried so I can create a Find A Grave memorial for her. Perhaps they will know something. Joe Klett NB Rev.
