KERNOCHAN--John Marshall, the Nash Professor Emeritus of Law at Columbia Law School, music publisher and founder of the Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts, whose work in intellectual property law spurred protections for artists, died Monday. The Columbia Law School community mourns his passing. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 1948, and married Adelaide Chatfield-Taylor. As head of Galaxy Music Corporation he published Pulitzer - winning composer Robert Ward and inspired a revival of English and Italian madrigals.
