Eagle River resident David Lloyd Chatfield Sr., 56, died Nov. 5, 2007, at Alaska Regional Hospital, hoping for an organ donor.
A viewing was held Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Eagle River.

Mr. Chatfield was born Aug. 10, 1951, to Col. James and Helen Chatfield in Dayton, Ohio.

His mother wrote: "His intense curiosity made him a voracious reader, and he became a collector of unique things found in his world travels. He was adventuresome, fearless, a great debater and history buff, and enjoyed a competitive game of golf. He practiced his religion with joy. May his soul rest in peace."

He was employed by Nippo Corp. and International Bridge Corp. as an electrical administrator. Throughout his career, he traveled the world supporting his family. One notable project was supervising the wiring of launch pads for the Starbird Missile Program on Wake Island, dubbed "Star Wars."

His family wrote: "His passing leaves a huge void in our lives and the lives of his friends. May God bless his beautiful soul."

Mr. Chatfield is survived by his wife, Eileen Marie; sons, Jason, Chad and David Jr.; daughter, Leanne Marie; grandsons; Austin Ross Chatfield and Hasan Miles Wilkerson; his mother, Helen Chatfield-Weeks; brothers, James, John and Tom Chatfield if Whidbey Island, Wash.; and sisters, Linda and Camilla Chatfield.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Col. James Chatfield, and his beloved son, Miles Austin Chatfield.

Former Eagle River, AK resident Eileen Chatfield, 60, died peacefully October 6, 2010, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle after a 14-year battle with ovarian cancer.

A visitation was held followed by a funeral Mass at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Eagle River.

Eileen was born December 31, 1949, to Mary Elizabeth and Edward Keenan Brady in Richland. She moved to Anchorage, AK in 1981 with her husband and four children. Eileen enjoyed riding horses, horse races, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her family wrote: "She was a very kind and giving soul. After her cancer diagnosis in 1996 and the death of her youngest son in 1998, she was devastated but remained strong for her family. We are happy she can rest now but she will be deeply missed."

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth and Edward Keenan Brady; husband, David Lloyd Chatfield Sr.; and son, Miles Austin Chatfield.

She is survived by sons Jason Chatfield of Seattle and David Lloyd Chatfield Jr. of Anchorage; daughter, Leanne Chatfield of Anchorage; grandsons, Austin Ross Chatfield of Grand Junction, CO, and Hasan Miles Wilkerson of Anchorage.

The family would like to thank Dr. Saul Rivkin and the oncology staff at Swedish Medical Center.

A visitation was held July 23 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Eagle River. Services were July 24 at St. Andrew's. The Revs. Steve Baliko and Jim Dougherty officiated. Burial was in Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. Pallbearers included Tom Chatfield, David Chatfield Jr., James Chatfield, Jarrett Zuspan, Rob Moidle, Ryan Hendricks and Sean Lawlor. John Chatfield was an honorary pallbearer. Mr. Chatfield was born Dec. 23, 1977, in Richland, Wash., and moved to Eagle River in 1981. He was a 1996 Chugiak High School graduate and attended AVTEC and the University of Alaska Anchorage. Mr. Chatfield was a referee for the Anchorage Hockey Association during his high school years. He had also worked with landscaping and was working with Sawhorse Construction at the time of his death. He enjoyed hockey, dirtbiking, skiing, fishing, hunting and music. His family said, ''Miles was a loving son, brother to his family. He had a kind, gentle, unselfish soul to all around him. He was a favorite of his nephew, Austin Ross Chatfield, who loved him very much. Miles accepted a disabling accident two years ago with dignity and enthusiasm to do his best. He was looking forward to entering the electrical field as a career.'' Mr. Chatfield is survived by his parents, David and Eileen Chatfield of Eagle River; sister, Leanne Chatfield of Seattle; brother, Jason Chatfield of Bellingham, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law, David and Tiffany Chatfield of Anchorage; nephew, Austin Ross Chatfield of Grand Junction, Colo.; grandmother, Helen Chatfield-Weeks of Whidby Island, Wash.; uncles, Jim, John and Tom Chatfield; aunts, Linda and Camelia Chatfield and Joyce Morgan; and his girlfriend, Mandi Meloy.
