Robert Edwin Chatfield, formerly of Old Saybrook died Wednesday, (April 30, 2003) at the Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Drusilla (Ford) Chatfield of Middletown and the son of the late Charles Buckingham and Marion (Hall) Chatfield. He was educated in the New Jersey schools and attended Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge in Woodbury. Bob was a life long sailor. He belonged to the Lake Quassapaug Yacht Club where he sailed his snipe competitively. He also belonged to the Wilson Cove Yacht Club in Rowayton where he sailed larger boats in Long Island Sound and along the New England coast. He was actively involved with Ham radios also. A sister, Jeanne Chatfield Addison; brother-in-law, Edward Thorton Addison and their two children survived him. Family member Lynn Chatfield Stefanowicz and her family also survived him.

Robert Edwin Chatfield and Druscilla Nettleton Ford were married on 11 May 1957. Druscilla Nettleton Ford was born in 1923 in Connecticut, USA.
