John W. McKee Sr. 71, 651 E. Votaw St., Portland, died late Wednesaday evening at the Jay County Hospital followng an extended illness.
Born Sep. 3, 1896 in Randolph County, he was the son of Perry J. and Violetta (McGreery) McKee. He was married to Minnie D. Foltz on May 29, 1920, and she survives. He was a membeer of the Portland Friends Church, a veteran of World War I, and was a member of Jay Lodge No. 87 F & AM , Order of Eastern Star Portland Chapter 91, Scottish Rite, and Interation Brickmason Ubion Local No. Nine, Muncie. He was a retired brickmason and contractor.
Surviving in addition to wife are two sons, John and Herbert E., both of Portland; one sister, Mrs. Reginald (Nyra) Clifton, Wren, Ohio; one step brother Irven Foltz, Ventura, Calif.; seven gradchildren and three great-grandchildren. One grandaughter, Mrs. Gordon (Dixie) Jordan, Wolcottville, was raised in the the McKee home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 p.m. in Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Long, pastor of the Friends Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Park Cemeetery. Masonic services will conducted at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m.
